“More than on so many other occasions this people showed their soul of good and peaceful people,” Rodriguez,” Rodriguez stated, emphasizing that “today, peace for all has triumphed. Peace be with us and you, with everyone who contributed their grain of sand by voting for whomever they wanted.”

Rodriguez affirmed that the people gave a lesson to whom persists in violence as a form of action, “with that sterile diatribe that is its way of approaching power.”

The president of the National Assembly highlighted the Venezuelan democratic system, saying that “through voting, Venezuela is heading towards a future of prosperity, where everyone returns and migrants reunite with their families. Today we are demonstrating what we are made of.”

Rodriguez called on sectors of the radical opposition to understand that “there is a message,” “an election is a dialogue to make a decision and today the people spoke with profound clarity and hopefully we all respect it and move forward towards what the people decided today” to build the Venezuela “that we all deserve.”

In this regard, Rodriguez congratulated all sectors of the democratic opposition that participated in the electoral process and stated that the government is open to dialogue and plurality of ideas and can work together “as long as it is for the welfare of the people.”

On the neo-fascist opposition sector that called for abstentionism, Rodriguez said “they thought it was going to put people down,” but “it happened quite the opposite,” referring to the high turnout of voters in the polling stations, in the newly constituted state of Guyana Esequiba.

These elections at the Esequibo reaffirmed national unity and Venezuela’s historical claim to this territory. Rodríguez highlighted the triumph of the inalienable Venezuelan right over the Esequibo, highlighting the peaceful and massive participation of the population in the polling stations as a lesson and a clear message.

The National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE) extended the election day by one hour due to the large number of people who had not been able to vote due to adverse weather conditions, according to the director of the Electoral entity, Elvis Amoroso.

The decision was announced by CNE President Elvis Amoroso, who explained that the extension will be extended until all citizens present at polling stations can exercise their right to vote.

The CNE Chair reported that those in line after the set time will be allowed to vote. On this election day, Venezuela elects governors, national deputies and state legislators, with approximately 21 million eligible voters. According to CNE, 99.74% of the tables were installed at dawn, with 100% of the technical staff deployed.

The elections were held normally and with high popular participation, although in some regions it rained heavily, so the CNE decided to extend the voting time at the national level.

These elections are also characterized by the fact that for the first time Guyana Esequiba will elect its governor and eight deputies to the Legislative Council, thus materializing the decision of the people in the referendum of December 3, 2023.
